So How are YOU exporting from Avid?

Hello All -

Exactly how are you Avid folks exporting your sequences?

I was excited to upgrade to Media Composer 2.8, what with all the "Export back to P2" hype. HOWEVER, buried and quickly glossed over in their video tutorial is the nut-kicker that this function doesn't include 720/24pn media.

This sucks.:crybaby:

I'm also having trouble creating a simple QT reference that does not involve the "use Avid DV codec" option.

So...how are you guys outputting?

Thanks

Why do you find you need to use Avid DV option to export a QuickTime reference? I don't need to with my MC. I just export a QuickTime reference.

Hi Sean -

If I don't check the DV Codec option, I get a QT that plays audio but video is only a white screen. This continues even after un-installing qt 7.4.5 and installing 7.3.1

Any suggestions?

The pN formats are not supported in the write back process. This is not so much an Avid issue as it is a Panasonic one - since it is on that end that is is not supported.

Hi Michael -

Thanks for responding. Can you elaborate on why not writing back in the pN formats is a Panasonic issue?

Raylight and Premiere CS3 are able to do this.

Would appreciate your insight into this... :-)
