I do have to wonder is some company will step in somehow to try to stop this. Remember Juan and Andromeda/Hydra? Well corporate folk don't work weekends so lets hope everything continues thru this week so we have another worry free weekend.

And by the way I voted #3 because my GH1 won't arrive until Wednesday.

GH13, with a name like that I'm going to need you to step out onto the bleeding edge with the rest of us :D

If English is your second language, and your reading score is %70, a video tutorial of "how to install GH13 firmware" will be very valuable.

I'm between 6 and 3 - too chicken to try patching right now, but meaning I plan to do it someday when I've spent more time with the camera. I think the dust is settling even as we speak so thats not the issue anymore.

My bigger concern today has more to do with learning to use the GH1 properly, so I can't even appreciate the nuances of the improvements yet. I'm finding the adjustment from shooting an SD 3ccd cam to HDSLR quite a big one, so it will be quite a while before I have the confidence to do any patching. But I WILL get there, and when that time comes I will be patching.

In the meantime, you guys go ahead and keep testing! You guys are heroes!

If you're thinking about Panasonic, I think quietly they are thrilled with this. The old saying in marketing, "There's no such thing as bad publicity." This has gotten EVERYONE talking about the Panasonic GH1, even all the Canon 5D and 7D sights and blogs are talking about this. This is going to sell a ton of GH1 cameras, and steal sales from Canon. Not to mention priming the market for the AG100 and the GH2.

On my third version of the patch and just donated to tester13. Keep up the great work folks.

Best,
-Tim

Patched last night... Testing D settings. So far no hiccups with either 1080pN/24 or 720/60p with Patriot LX 16gb class 10.
About to upload first clip to vimeo.

I'm soooo tempted to pick up a japanese GH1 body from ebay and start tinkering ...
So very tempted.

Add an option on the poll ?

I wish I can say yes but I decided to update my Production Premium CS4 to CS5. I had a dilemma. Update to CS5 so that I can get slightly more stable editing since I have an ATI card instead of an NVidia card or get a 32 GB Sandisk class 10 card to allow me to increase the bit rate but my editing would be less stable I believe. I need at least 1.5 hours. Unfortunately I don't have a tree that grows money.

I'm having second thoughts about my decision since I'm tasked to record a very well know band and that would have been the perfect situation to try it out. I still have until this Saturday to see if I can borrow a card from someone. I'll be shooting everything in 720 60p so at least it wouldn't be as bad as shooting in 1080 24p knowing how much better it would have looked with the firmware. I'm also using an HVX200A which will get the wide shot.

If anyone who lives around Boston, Massachusetts and have a hacked GH1, a spare class 10 card and wants to help me shoot the band, your more than welcome to. You'll definitely be in shock once you find out who the band members are. I can't say any more than that.

I patched with C settings and 24pN for AVCHD. MJPEG didn't work for me probably because my SD card is only Class 6. I may try again without 422. But at least my AVCHD is looking better and my workflow is quicker now.
