Snow!!

Hmm... Wussies? Come down here and spend a summer with us then say that. 90 degrees in the shade. It feels like you stepped into an oven. Instant sweat. For months. Our A/C units have a hard time coping with it.

:Drogar-Shock(DBG):
See, that's the common misconception about parts of Canada. We (Ottawa) get to 30 odd degrees Celsius quite often, no problem. (>90 degrees F.) Over 40 C with the humidex at some points during a hot summer.
We get rolling blackouts at times due to excessive AC use. Only for a few months, but still.

Jon is right about the 'wussies' part.
Snow doesn't bother us in most parts of Canada. My tree out front a couple of years back was completely buried in snow, completely. Roofs of schools in parts of Quebec collapsed due to the weight of the snow, homes as well. That's the only time school gets canceled. :)

The school buses may get canceled on occasion but the schools are still open and plenty of kids show up because their parents still need to go to work. I've also spent my share of time in some very hot countries. I'll take the heat over cold and snow any day. My AC works fine and there's nothing to shovel. Pools are pretty sweet too!

A typical Canadian Winter (for comparison)
Yup.

That's probably from two years ago when my tree vanished. :)

I don't get the whole "my backyard is hotter/colder then yours."

If you don't like it move. No point is challenging the next guy over to a how-big-is-your-stick contest.

I like snow, I like the searing heat of August. I'm just happy I love somewhere where we get both!

Sorry, William. It just all snowballed from this comment. Forgive the pun. :)

Our town closes down at the first sight of a snow flurry!
Seriously... all schools close, everything shuts down.

That's just funny to us. :)
So is the misconception about it not getting hot over here.
It is a common one that a lot of people have bought in to. Like all things, it depends on what part of the country you are talking about.

Personally, I like having hot summers and cold snowy winters. It's a nice change of pace.

We're just having fun... As for moving, well aside from the weather I love montreal. Not going to move about that. We Canadians just like complaining about the mounds of snow I guess.

Also Mike is right, when we hear people talking about schools closing for a little bit of snow (or people loving snow), or people telling us about hot weather, well we tend to respond to that due to our bad experiences and people thinking Canada doesn't get hot.

I shall put away the ruler if it bothers you, didn't know the jesting was frustrating people.

But Mike, man, when that snow came a year or two back, the roof of my cabana collapsed.

But you have to remember why our towns shut down at the first sign of snow or ice. We have one snowplow. Also, most people don't need 4 wheel drive. We just aren't prepared because it rarely happens.

And I'd rather it be 110 with no AC than 50 anyday. And yes, hailing from North Carolina, I know all about humidity. I love it.

That picture puts our 20 inches to shame. That's amazing.

One more than us!

Here's why we shut down:

Snow usually only lasts a couple days. Three at most. We have NO snow plows. We also usually get ICE, then snow which makes it nearly impossible to drive (having lived in VA back in 1996 when we got 30" and still drove everywhere I can tell you there is a difference between driving on packed snow and trying to drive on snow covered ice.)

Why spend the time / effort when it's gone in a couple days? We stay home and enjoy the holiday.
