Snow!!

I know that a lot of y'all see snow a lot, but not me. I grew up outside of Raleigh, NC and then moved to Oklahoma City. Ice, yes. Snow, no. We're visiting my sister in West Virginia and they said it may snow 4 inches. It started yesterday, and we currently have close to 16 inches. I've never seen anything like this! Awesome!

Oh, and Doc, I'm sending this from an iPhone so please forgive any grammatical errors.

Ahh, okay, you are excused. So what is it? I now have the reputation as a "Spelling and Grammar Nazi"? That's funny, because I am not.:D The only person I "police" on grammar and spelling is myself.

I miss the snow. There is something about standing outside while it is snowing. The world around you is muted except for the soft pattering of the flakes hitting the ground. Enjoy it, Hawk. Personally, I am sick of it being 80 degrees on Christmas. It just doesn't seem right.

I lived in No VA for a few years (Dale City area) back when I worked at the F.B.I Academy in Quantico... (don't ask or I'll be forced to "hush" you... hehe)
Anyway, I miss that snow. It's been a while since you guys got that much huh?
I remember back in the early '90s we got a total of 28" over two to three days. I measured 26" out the front door.

Shoot some video.

thx.

Only the second snow I've seen in Richmond in four years. It's keeping me from traveling to my parents house who live near DC. They are saying it may get to white-out conditions by tonight.

It's still coming down pretty hard here. We're going to try to leave for NC tomorrow. We'll see how that goes, though.

I won't be able to post any video here. I left the DVX at home... with phone chargers, books for the trip, and my extra shoes. Awesome, eh?

I've been saying since this summer... we will get a lot of snow this year. I also believe we will be getting a lot of snow for years to come due to the deep solar minimum we have been in for several years. This is the longest deep solar minimum recorded since the mini ice age. Some say we just might go into another mini ice age. I hope not because that lasted 30 years and in the middle of it there was a year with no summer. I love my summers now.

Ok, the snow was fun ... until I had to rescue the Pontiac from it. That part was not fun. Oh well. I think we're going to make an army of snowmen tonight after my sisters kids are in bed. Should be fun.

Our town closes down at the first sight of a snow flurry!
Seriously... all schools close, everything shuts down.

Oh c'mon, what a bunch of wusses! We get 30 centimeters of snow (a foot) and everything still runs. Mind you busses are slow and roads are a mess, but we still drive, people still go out and do things, and school is still always open...

Come up to Canada and experience what real snow is about. :)

......

......

I hate snow!!!! :crybaby:

snow...is great when you see it on the distant mountains, its lovely when you see it on your garden, but it is hatefull when it last for more than 3 days....

That said I want snow...today we got up with some scattered patches of grass covered on snow but maybe 1 inch... hahaha it was more like hail. But that's because I live near the cost, if you go south to the interior of spain you get a lot more snow.

Exactly. 3 days and you want to kill yourself.

When my sis studied in Spain a friend of her asked if she missed the snow... I laughed when she told me that.

I mean we have 2-3 feet of snow at all times, for a few months straight, and it just keeps coming, things slow down when it snows (sometimes buses never come for 1-2 hours), the snow turns grey and black near the roads... it's not too pretty. I mean if we stopped everytime it snowed, we'd be snowed out for months...

*sigh*

i'm insanely jealous of all the people getting snow. it's been the rainiest year ever, but none of the white stuff.

Hmm... Wussies? Come down here and spend a summer with us then say that. 90 degrees in the shade. It feels like you stepped into an oven. Instant sweat. For months. Our A/C units have a hard time coping with it.

It is true if I had to pick between extreme heat or extreme cold I'd pick cold. At least if you wear enough layers you can go outside and still be realtively warm. But there's no escaping that kind of heat once you're outdoors, even if you're naked.

Okay, it's not that hot in the summer, but it still gets hot. We live in the humid climat area, so our winters are bad, and so are our summers. I mean when you go from -30 degrees with wind chill to 30 degrees with extreme humidity (that's about 90 degrees), it's a bit difficult. I mean some days in the summer you step out and you can't breath it's so humid.

I love Montreal and I want to call us a tough breed... but I hate it. My dad moved to vancouver where things are more tame. Winters are rain summers are kind of warm. I'm jealous.
