Snow test

Nice.

Liked the short tree scene after the flag.

Thought the snow looked a little "warm" maybe (Color temp +200 degrees)

Wish I had some other glass to mix it up.
Music was some generic apple loops clip.
Side mirror shot is my fav.

Looks good- I like the two tree and sun shots, and the CU of leaves and snow at 1:33, though I find the slightly higher shutter speed a little distracting (just my preference, not a criticism), since part of 24p is the slight motion blur.

Did you WB in the sun or shade?
Try any overcranking?

The Tokina's your only lens? I thought you had the Voightlander?

Nice stuff, I'll keep it in mind shooting on South Beach this weekend...

hey john, honestly how you like the tokina lens? I want to get a super wide lens thats a 2.8..

A little softness wide and a bit of distortion but not a dealbreaker.
Pretty sharp im the sweet spots ( side mirror shot)
The ring rotation messes with my head though.

Still deciding on mid and long zooms.
I balanced 5.6 sun.
I only spent 10 minutes shooting. My wife was pissed that I was shooting she shoveled. LOL
I sold the Voightlander.

You didn't like the Voight? Problems/issues? I'm considering one, thanks...

ps- be careful when the wife has a shovel in hand... LOL!

It was great. I got caught up I. The supply/demand hysteria. When I came across one I grabbed it.
Funding is limited and thought I'd be better served with 2-3 fast zooms and the 20mm pancake 1.7 to get me started.
I'll get back in line when $ is flowing.

The Voightlander is a wonderful lens, and it's dirt cheap for what it is, but then again, it's $899 for one lens. So yeah, if money's tight you can certainly get a lot of glass for the price of just the one Voigtlander.

But as Ferris Bueller said... "if you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

Makes sense- I guess the pancake is what, $500+ cheaper?

It would be nice to see a side by side comparison of the Voight and pancake, compare looks in addition to speed.

Plus, as Homer Simpson said, "Mmmm.... pancakes..." He was talking lenses, wasn't he???

Well, they're different focal lengths, so would you want them compared with the same subject size? And the Voigtlander is 1.67 stops faster so the speed difference is pretty massive, it lets in 3x as much light. And it's larger, and heavier, and it's manual-focus only (but its manual focus action is exquisite and luxurious). The 20mm is autofocus-capable, and its manual focus is meh. But it's 1/3 the price. The Voigtlander has an iris ring, but it's only manual iris control; the 20mm has only electronic iris control, and the iris control isn't all that great.

Yes, same subject size, and I guess both lenses at 1.7 and 2.8. Why, do you do tests on request, Barry?

What's the pancake's focus issues?
