Smoky Mountains Landscape - 5D MKII

My first landscape video. I only had one day to shoot this due to the weather.

Camera : 5dmkii
Lenses : 16-35mm, 24-70mm, 135mm , glidecam 2000 and custom slider.

What I learned : For hiking, don't try and save space by not carrying a telephoto zoom. My 135mm f2 limited me too much and I really needed that IS using a shaky travel tripod. I sold my 70-200mm 2.8 IS (too heavy to bring) for the f/4 version. I think I would have been better off with 24-105mm instead of the 16-35 & 24-70 pair. Switching the 16-35mm (glidecam lens) back with the 24-70mm just to get in a bit tighter got old and you can't use a 24-70mm on a glidecam, its a brick!

Loved this - brought back lots of good memories. Surprised you didn't do more of the bear in the tree. +1 on the girl coolie.. Shots were amazingly stable - glidecams are wonderful. Nice finish with the blowing leaf. Thanks for sharing !

Yea my wife was nice enough to carry the tripod/slider. It was bouncing all over me while using the glide cam. The bear in the tree was really difficult because i was shooting black subject right against the sky. I really didn't think it was going to be usable at the time. Most of the footage the bear wasn't moving or the camera was shaking like crazy. Thats when I really needed an IS lens. Thanks for the comments!

I liked the "outdoors" images. That had a great feel to it but then the man made pathways spoiled it for me.

Yea that particular bald is apparently maintained by the park. I think it would grow over if they didn't keep it up. The paths are nice for using a glidecam on but defiantly don't looks cool as trails. There is a 12 mile round trip hike that has no paths I'd love to shoot. Maybe one day:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
