SmallHD and DVX100 compatibility??

I just purchased a smallhd monitor but am having trouble connecting it to my DVX100. Do I need to purchase seperate cables as the supplied HDMI and green, red and blue one don't seem to be compatible with the camera.

Thanks

I don't know what green, red and blue means, but if it's component out your DVX should be able to take the video portion of that.

You need this

According to the online specs for the DVX100, you can use either a single RCA Male-Male (yellow in the photo above) or a S-Video cable to connect to the DP1. In theory S-Video will produce a superior image.

RCA is a type of component, which is what I meant.

RCA is a type of connector and has nothing to do with the signal that flows through it.

In the color-coding scheme of audio and video connections, a yellow RCA connection usually indicates a composite video signal, meaning that the entire video signal is carried over a single lead. That's what the DVX uses over its RCA video connection.

Red, green, and blue RCA connectors used together typically indicate component video signals, wherein the video is split into three parts (or three individual components). These can be the red, green, and blue signals, or more commonly YPBPR/YCBCR. Y carries the luma, PB carries Blue-Luma (blue minus luma), and PR carres Red-Luma. Therefore, there is no "video portion" of a component connection set.

S-Video is also a component connection, as the signal is split so that chroma and luma are carried separately.
