Unfortunately, All is done in French. Therefore, good luck in understanding what is being said. However, I am pretty proud of the results

All shot on a Canon EOS 60D with the kit 18-135 (Interviews shot with the Canon 50mm 1.4) Also used a Panasonic G2 with a Nikon 50mm 1.8 prime (Some images shot with the Panasonic 45-200). Lots of stills, lots of video. All music done by yours truly. Came into a couple of snags but this is my first serious project. It is seven minutes long so grab a coffee or do not be shy to FF. I am now working on the mini version for their website that will be around :45 to 1:30 long no more. Anyways, comments are more than welcome.

Nice job! It's one of those fun shoots with a ton of really wonderful visual stuff all around. Hard not to do a great job with the subject matter! But you did a lot of shots that showed the vertical horizontal and shear physical strength of trying for these kinds of jobs.

The interview with Nancy and Yves seemed like I would have spent a bit more time dialing in the white balance. You have a few very short cutaways with Yves late in the video that are much better balanced. Maybe start by trying to neutralize the white walls to see what you get? In some other shots those same walls look white, and not yellow. But likely there is some tungsten being thrown in, no? He's wearing a sweater that Canon DSLR's hate in low light. Always ends up turning an odd shade of orange.

Wish my old French was better, but I got the gist of it, and then ran it without sound to see how the visuals held up. The story doesn't really tell itself visually as well as with audio, so you might look at sequencing a bit more. Is there a logical ending sequence that works without sound? I get the beginning as its about the founding of the school and it's building, n'est pas? Pretty good for a standard kit with no special lenses (like a 10mm for example).

That is so funny. I presented the video at an event where there was a whole bunch of people and lots of talking. Therefore, audio was kind of tough to catch. My comment on my own video was the same as yours. The image alone does not get the message across. I am working on the shorter web promo version and thank you for all the constructive comments. I think a great deal of these pitfalls would have been avoided with a bit more planning and storyboarding.

As for the Canon well... I really think that I need a good tutorial in lighting period. Two things I have learned since I have started doing this full time is that the most important things in getting a great image are lenses and lighting. If you have any suggestions as to where to go for a crash course, please let me know. In the meantime I've got to go rent a lense for another shoot.
