SLR Magic 12mm Good or just average?

Not a fan of the way they keep updating their lenses. Think once I have used it for the couple of car shots I need to get on an upcoming thing, I'll sell it.

I’m a great fan of the 12mm, it’s easy to work with handheld, it’s great in low light. I owned the F2.0 12mm Olympus that all the reviews said was so great but it just didn’t do it for me so I sold it, I’ll now use either the SLR Magic or the Lumix 12-35mm now.

I use the SLR Magic with the official lens gear and an Edlekrone FocusOne Pro and I find that combination works well for me.

Super fun lens. The colors/contrast on it are a little funky, but it has a lot of character. It's a little on the soft side wide open, but so are most lenses with a similar FOV. I haven't experienced vignetting on mine unless it's stopped down, but I got one of the really early models.

I'm about to buy this lens but want to know how can I tell if it's the first or newer version?

Thanks

The newer version's focus ring rotates the same direction as Cine, Canon, & Leica, glass, while the original rotates likes Nikon lenses.

how well does the SLR 12mm and Panny 12-35mm footage work together?

P13 - I'm torn between buying the SLR Magic 12mm and the Panasonic 12-35mm. Do you find a drastic difference in "character" between these lenses? Do you have any videos that show a mix of your SLR Magic 12mm and the Panny 12-35mm?

I shoot mostly video with my GH2 and GH3. I have a SLR Magic 35mm/T1.4, and like its funky character and the gears come in handy when using my follow focus. I also have the Panny 14mm and 20mm lenses, which serve me well in many cases, they don't cut well with footage shot with the SLR Magic 35mm/T1.4. My interest in the SLR Magic 12mm is that it will probably cut better with footage shot with the SLR Magic 35mm/T1.4. I'm just curious how the Panny 12-35mm might mix with footage from the SLR Magic 35/T1.4. Any thoughts on this?

Anybody know of somewhere that the SLR Magic is in stock these days? I have been searching and waiting for one to pop up on Ebay for a reasonable price for weeks. I'm about to just go for the Olympus 12mm if I can't find a copy of the SLR Magic soon.
