SLR Lens Mount

I have been messing around with an old film SLR camera and figured out how to get the image from the lens on a focusing screen. But my question is has anyone built their own lens mount with enough space to put a focusing screen? I want to build an enclosure to attach to my camera but where could I get a spacer ring? If I used 2 or 3 spacers and somewhere in there put the focusing screen, and then attach the lens with the rear lens cap cutout and glued to an empty UV filter ring, would it work out?

Yeah. Check out that DIY thread. The most popular model of DIY adapter (and I'm building one right now) is from here: http://www.jetsetmodels.info/pics/diy_35_dof_xvid_15fps.avi

They are called 35mm adapters, though folks have taken to calling them DOF adapters, which is a shame. Everyone is after the shallow DOF, and once they have it, it's all they shoot. Please, once you get this thing running, use it for the texture of the ground glass and the selection of lenses... but use shallow focus sparingly and intentionally.

yes it should work, all 35mm adapters are basically doing the exact same thing anyway.

each Brand (lens) have there own distance they need from the lens to the film plate so just replace that with the GG and you should get the correct image on the GG.
just search how much distance you'll need with the lens you are trying to use.
I remember Canon is closer then Nikon. That's why you can use a Nikon lens on a Canon mount if you use an adapter ring. it increases the gap so you get the right distance so the Nikon lens can focus. but you can't use Canon lenses on a Nikon mount because there is no way you can decrease the distance. (unless you cut the Nikon mount shorter with something)

i am using a really old leica dicomar lens. it has the same focal length as canon lenses but its looking good. I am going to get some spacer rings.
