Slow motion

So i'm shooting a music video in slow motion with my a1 with the method of performing the song at a faster tempo than originally and then slowing down to the original speed. I was wondering, first, what frame rate I should shoot at (60i?) also what shutter speed to use, also how fast to speed up the song to get that look and how much to slow down the footage accordingly to achieve the 24p look in a 24p timeline.

btw song recorded in pro tools and video edited in FCP

Thank you very much for your help.

Yeah...

It's the SAME FRIGGIN QUESTION!!!

Plus you are too lazy to go back and FIND them after you hid your nuts!!

Maybe one sprouted.

GAH.

Nevermind.

haha wah? no hard feelings man. no need for slanderish comments about my person. just trying to explain why i posted it in different section. cause one, i wanted the audio experts to tell me about speeding up the song. two, I wanted the FCP people to show me how to slow down the footage correctly and thirdly, I wanted the people with my camera what shutter speed and frame rate to shoot at. It sounded pretty reasonable to me. I do appreciate very much the information you gave me, and i'm applying it, but i thought your comment on this thread to be a bit frivolous. Once again thanks for the info.

Careful what you wish for, Ian.

Is calling you lazy for not saying thank you on the FCP post and letting me know that I MIGHT have helped slanderish (sic) or actually correct?

Plus, it IS just bad form to slam the different sections with the same questions. BAD form.

cross posting is against the tos. there's a 'new posts' section that shows all new posts made in any sub forum and most users check that anyway.

to address the question, Barry Green formulated a very useful list of framerates and song speeds. i was unable to locate the thread here, but had the numbers for ntsc 24p saved. for the a1, the only ones that will be available to you are 30 and 60fps.

Barry Green said:
For an NTSC/US HVX, using a 24p timebase, for the following frame rates, adjust the song speed to:

12 fps: make song last 1.956x longer by stretching it to 51.1% speed
18 fps: make song last 1.333x longer by stretching it to 75.0% speed
20 fps: make song last 1.226x longer by stretching it to 81.6% speed
22 fps: make song last 1.067x longer by stretching it to 93.7% speed
26 fps: make song last 0.907x as long as normal; play it at 110.25% speed
30 fps: make song last 0.800x as long as normal; play it at 125% speed
32 fps: make song last 0.747x as long as normal; play it at 133.87% speed
36 fps: make song last 0.672x as long as normal; play it at 148.81% speed
48 fps: make song last 0.498x as long as normal; play it at 200.80% speed
60 fps: make song last 0.400x as long as normal; play it at 250.00% speed
