slomo-720/60p but slow shutter speed

Is this the perils of using a slow shutter speed and doing a slo mo? I am pretty sure I shot this at 120th or 100th. The only thing I can think of to make it SO stuttery. its 720/60p brought down to 24p in cinema tools.

(my usual disclaimer, I am friggin real virgin to video and using a video camera)

yea that's not normal. not sure what went wrong, but I import the clip into final cut, then conform it in cinema tools, drop it in the timeline and that's it. this does look like what happens when you just change the speed in the timeline instead of conforming in ct.

your NLE may have just dropped a bunch of frames to make it play back in 24p. you have to actually slow the clip down to 40% of original speed in order to get slow-mo

It can't be the shutter speed because I shot some 60p with footy with a shutter speed at 60th slowed it down in CS4 in a 24p project and unchecked frame blending .
No stuttering at all !
Dont know about FC but it must be certain setting that is causing the stuttering.

speaking from a FCP point of view...

are you sure that the clips are in a timeline that is **native/matched** for a 60fps clip?

i remember on my EX1 when i first got it that at times i was getting the creamy slomo from my 720p 60fps and other times...i wasnt.

wheni first got it i was exploring every setting on the EX1 known to man...and at times the first clip into the timeline was not...***720p 60fps*** so the timeline became 30 or 24 so, when i dropped in some 60fps clips...then the 60fps were not recognized and then my slomo looked just like normal 30fps slowed to to 15fps or less.

this would be the first thing i would check.

good luck

Hi,

I am not a editor, but I had a similar problem with Premiere CS4.
I interpreted the footage to 24p and it conformed from 59.94 to 24.
When I playback in Premiere seens ok, but when I exported I had the same problem of flickering.
I tried to intertrep the footage to 23.976. The playback was ok and then I exported again. The results seens fine. Actualy I think its a bit of compass because Premiere don't interpret as 23.976 and actualy to 23.98, soo I think that is the problem.

The test was this, in the mid of the video have the slow.

Hope that helped.
