Skateboarding footage

I realize skating is probably near unwatchable to people who don't skate but please help out. It is by no means only my best clips, It is just all the footage from 3ish days.

I would love some input on the technical side (scene, exposure, camera work)

Man, that bugged me as well growing up. Now, I rollerblade (don't hate), and have been doing it for nearly ten years, but I enjoy skateboarding as well. Anyway, that park looks fun. Nice footage, and awesome skating.

looks really good, plus its in BC. I love the non-death lens footage. the colours are great. If anything a little flurry of quick edits can't hurt.

Nice footage Warren. As you can perhaps tell from my username (name of an old Alien Workshop video) I also come from a skateboarding background in regards to film. As with probably a lot of other filmmakers and videographers our age, all the creativity from skateboarding heavily influenced the filmmakers we are today.

For whatever reason though (and I ride bikes far more than I skate now), BMX and "urban" bike videos have fully embraced HD and 24P quicker than the skateboarding world - kind of. I'm referring to Gabe Morford (photographer for Slap, Thrasher, DLX, etc) and his work on MASH SF, a track bike video. They shot all their footage on DVX100s and it looks great. As a side note, if you watch some of the clips of the site (link: http://mashsf.com/videos.php) Gabe filmed a lot of it on his skateboard, bombing hills just as fast as bikes.

Another (track) bike video that has come out even more recently is Macaframa (link: http://macaframaproductions.com/movies.html) and they cite it's ALL shot in HD (HVX200). They have some great slow-mo/frame rate stuff and clean dolly moves. Definitely worth getting some ideas for framing and camera movement for your skate videos.

Most importantly, BMX has come out with some serious heavy-hitters in HD/24P filming. 4Down, Odyssey, Mutiny have amazingly shot stuff that anyone who films should look into. Aside from the amazing riding, the shots looks spectacular. Some links to check out below:

Anyway, those are my favorite BMX/bike videos as of late. Hope you get inspired, and I hope you're not anti-bike skateboarder. I was, and now I regret it. HA!

I was the exact opposite. I used to ride bikes all the time when I was young, then I broke my wrist. Thanks for all the links.
