Similar in size to a poodle, slightly heavier, but less barky when you grab it from beneath to press the record button

Yeah that helps alot thanks.
hummmm.

Barry is right. I shot with the Sony cam last weekend and was surprised at how heavy is was. It seemed extremely front heavy and was tough on the risk.. and that's saying something after getting used to the HVX. Also to give a plug... I went into the shoot with an open heart and came away with a few pros to the Sony cam... It has a much nicer LCD than the HVX and it has a lot of user controls... but by far they are greatly outweighed with negatives when compared to the HVX.. It's not laid out very well.. buttons all over the cam and it has an extremly consumer approach to the menus and overall functionality of the camera. The HVX is set-up much more like a broadcast camera... feels better balanced... and is much more fun to shoot!

The Sony does shoot some nice video though... none the less. Just kind of frustrating with the menus and all of the different knobs and dinguses and that.. especially the audio controls... etc.

As for weight, I just reviewd the DV Multi Rig Pro. Using the Stabilize Rod, I was able to carry it around hand held style for two days at a powwow without wearing out. Super nice rig. Wish I had one of these when I was doing weddings so long ago. And no, I do NOT miss doing weddings...

I also am completing a review of DvMultiRig Pro for an on line site. With the support rod with flex tip, and the belt holster, and using a shoulder configuration, the total weight of the HVX 200 and rig is about 8 pounds.

It gets a little heavy using the DvMultiRig Pro without the support rod and belt holster, however. Don't want to do it for a long time, although a little better than the Merlin.

I found that using it with the wings out to the sides, no support rod, it was heavy, until I read through the whole user manual. It says to bring the wings towards the font of the camera. It worked, it suddenly felt super light. You just have to get the center of gravity set properly. I use it that way for a good while and it was fine.

The shoulder mount mode sans support rod and holster did produce some fatigue after about ten minutes. At that time, I would usually use it as a ground or table top tripod, and it worked fine.

Also, moving the wings (hand grips) towards my body did improve things.

With the rod and holster, it was much better.

Review out probably Thursday, 11/30
