sites to buy lens?

I don't personally use them because I am located in Australia, but B & H Photo is probably the most repuatable and well-priced retailer in the US. Any of this sites sponsors are (I am sure!) well screened to ensure they are professional and reliable.

Midwest Photo (MPEx.com).

They are a brick and mortar store here in Columbus, Ohio, and they have a thriving online store, too. Truly professional people working there - they're all photographers. Their prices are the same if not lower than B&H.

KEH's standards are pretty high. I have never bought a "bargain" lens from them but if they say it works I would be assured it does. Their EX+ lenses that I have bought look new.

I can't imagine how 20+ year old lenses can be in such great shape.

Thank you Sir - Ebay's a nice tool, but I must admit, I like buying from brick and mortar stores, even if it's via the internet.

Also B&H or Amazon.com.

To be sure, that's the place to start. But sometimes B&H is noticably higher then other places, and they do close during major Jewish holidays (like Passover starting next Monday). If you need it now and they're closed, you have to go somewhere else. Adorama has always been good to me as well.

For those of you in Southeastern Michigan/Northeastern Ohio, there's a very nice brick and mortar Canon/Nikon retailer in Dexter, MI:

I've bought a bunch of bargain lenses from KEH over the years, and they've all been in superb condition... almost new. My Leica 90mm had a few scratches on the body, but the glass was perfect, and one of the FD lenses didn't come with a lens cap. I would not hesitate to buy a bargain lens.

You can also call them and ask about the specific lens, and they'll tell you exactly what's wrong with it. Their sales people are pretty knowledgable.

I haven't had the guts to try an "Ugly" lens yet, but I've read some forums where others have and said they were fine... but still...
