Sit down interview lens

You might consider a zoom for sit down interviews. My favorite interview lens is my Cooke 20-100, but on your camera something like a 16-50 would cover a lot of base in cramped spaces.

Zoom lens would be best, I use a Sigma 18-50mm 2.8. Prime lenses have nice image, but with a zoom lens you can keep your subject still and you can frame however you want without moving yourself as well. For interviews I like zoom lenses.

I agree with others that it is nice to shoot interviews with a zoom lens. If you are not shooting interviews with 2-cameras, it really helps to be able to re-frame the shot every couple of questions. It not only gives a bit of visual diversity, but allows you to cut straight from one grab to another from grab from a different answer, without having a jump cut.
Thanks guys, I had a friend who suggested a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and/or Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8, any input on any of those lenses?
Also I'm using a Canon Vixia along side with the 60D, so as it is now I can afford to move the camera around, but it's distracting not only to me but to the subject.

The 17-50 will be more versatile for a 60D. You can always move a little closer in your interviews but in some cases impossible to move farther back. I've have that 17-50 living on my camera for a year and a half and it a dependable daily driver. Only the Canon 17-55 may be better with IS but at a cost.
