Single clip wont playback after CF card ran out during recording

While recording on my 7D in 1080 30fps my card ran out of space at which time the recording stopped. When going to play back the clip that was last recorded on the camera, "Cannot playback video" is the message I get. Haven't been able to playback on VLC or MPEG stream clip either.

I'm assuming the cf card ran out of space and was unable to complete coding the footage, any suggestions as to how to repair this clip? Is this a common problem for DSLR users?

Thanks
David

Its a fairly common problem with any data based camera. If the card fills up it pretty hard for any camera to write the needed header information.

Generally, you can recover the data. When this happens with the EX1/3, Sony's transfer software has a utility that will fix the clip.

Can you view the clip in the camera that wrote it?

When viewing from the 7D the error message says "Cannot playback movie". The clip cannot be recognized by anything that i've tried to play it on, qt, vlc, mpeg streamclip...
