Singh-Ray Vari-ND

Totally Usable
(Okay, there's a thread in the 5D section, but I wanted to add one here.)

I got my Singh-Ray Vari-ND filter (and GH1) on Friday. Most of my shooting is outdoors, wth available light, in constantly changing conditions. Controlling exposure is key, and can be a challenge.

The Singh-Ray Vari-ND lets you lock in your shutter speed, f-stop and ISO, and control exposure quickly and accurately with the Vari-ND. It's a simple product that makes the GH1 more productive for the environments I shoot in.

I can't recommend this product enough. Yes, there may be cheaper solutions, and even DIY stuff. But this thing works, period, no hassles, and that is worth every penny in my book.

Honestly, I'm glad Panasonic didn't. Because if they had, you'd get one or maybe two choices of ND, and you'd probably lose the ability to change exposure on the fly with any smoothness at all. You can only put so much in a camera the size of the GH1.

The Canon G series compacts have had an internal and optional 3 stop filter for some time now. Though I'm not sure where it'll go in the GH1; it's compact as it is already!

The Singh-Ray is nice, but man, I can buy lenses at that price...

I never said it was cheap, but it may be the single best accessory I bought for the GH1, for the way I shoot.

Just out of curiosity, how would you propose to control exposure on the fly without something like this?
