Has anyone tried recording to two cards at the same time? Any issues?

Can anyone test / does anyone know what happens when a card fails during simultaneous recording? Does the second card continue recording or does everything stop?
 
I tried it and it works fine. I have no idea what happens when one card fails, and I hope to never experience it. I would rather not try to test it either unless I had a card I knew was faulty.
 
According to the manual one card should keep going if the other stops.

Rec. check does not work in Sim. rec mode, bit of a bummer fro me.

Barry, I have noticed, (Panasonic160) that at using "Simultaneous Recording" speed of switching of a videocamera between modes Rec->Pause->Rec decreases several times. In this mode ("Simultaneous Recording" ) It is probability to press key REC/PAUSE without switching mode (Pause->Rec) . The situation is aggravated with absence in this videocamera alarm sounds BEEP SOUND at the moments start and stop record. I mean that it is necessary to correct Firmware: Even a process of closing files on the FLASH is not finished yet, the camera must be switched to the mode "REC" By pressing the button REC.
 
That's not how AVCCAM cameras work. They have to stop the recording and close out the file before they're able to start a new recording. There's no two ways around it. You can't have that immediate start/stop you're talking about - the camera must have time to close out the file system, and it absolutely can't start another recording while it's still closing out the last one.

As addressed in another thread, the beep would be nice. But no, you can't have lightning-quick rec/stop/rec again. It just can't do it. You have to give it time to close out the file system.
 
One additional thing to know in Simultaneous record, the camera will not do VFR to both cards. It doesn't have enough processor power.

I was shooting handheld the other day with my 160 doing Simultaneous recording. I tilted the camera up (still recording) and moved to a new position. I did not notice me bumping the camera or any sharp movement, but during the movement, the camera reported an error and stopped recording. Could this be an issue with the camera or with the media. I plan to test the camera more extensively this weekend but, I am now worried to use this a my main camera on a shoot if I move to quickly and it errors. Luckily the provided AVCCAM Restorer did the trick and I was able to get the lost footage. But it was very nerve-racking on site, I am just glad my HVX was my main cam and nothing was lost.

You don't say which media you were using, but I suspect first the SD cards. I have seen many failures on the cheaper cards, and virtually none on the more expensive ones.

It also possible that the battery could have become momentarily loose when you moved the camera and stopped the recording, I have a cheaper off brand battery that has caused this problem in the past.

Yup...recording to solid state shouldn't be affected by camera movement....something must be loose or damaged inside.

Barring the fact that it might be an off-brand battery, which could be loose, I would carefully look at the SD cards. They are not all created equal. Unless the camera makes a rattling noise once powered up, I would say nothing is loose or damaged inside, especially on a brand new camera.

That's what I was thinking. I was using the SANDISK Extreme SDHC Class 10 (30MB/s) 32GB cards. What cards should I purchase and where at?
