simple question about 300/370

Well, PB is in Vermont and I live in Vermont, so I guess that's pretty local for me. I like their hard cases because the latches don't snap my fingers, the way Pelican latches do. Ouch!

I never let my camera out of my sight when I travel, it always is carry-on. The recommended PortaBrace case for the 370 is actually much bigger than necessary, unless you leave a matte box mounted on the lens (it fits). I often put my 370 in the smaller PB carry-on that I have for my old JVC HD-110. It's a snug fit, but it gets me past the airport carry-on minimum-size police. Our 2nd 370 is in a Kata backpack.
BTW Powerdog, I live about 10 miles closer to PortaBrace than you. You (and my sailboat at Point Bay Marina) are in Charlotte and I'm in Panton (office is in Waitsfield though).

I know this thread is mostly about hard cases, but there's a Vermont part of the thread too. Porta Brace cases are made in Vermont. And now the former director of operations at Porta Brace has started his own bag company, and they're made in Vermont as well:
