FS7: Similarities between firmware 3.0 and Ursa 4,6K

well.. I see a big difference. You can shoot and make money with the FS7 and don't need to rent another camera until FW3.0 shows up. And in both cases: the world is still turning and life goes on.

Much written about even they are not available. A new kind of marketing a la Star wars?
Making buzz and fuzz about nothing.

FW3.0 next week....

According to my colleague who is in the Facebooks says he saw someone post in the FS7 group that a Sony rep (liar) confirmed next week. To which I replied that I'd believe it when I see it installed on our camera.

I remember back in May my talk with a mate that was talking about Ursa Mini superiority over FS7. I said: "You wait for your Ursa Mini, I'm getting FS7 now and will make money on it". I couldn't be more accurate with that simple statement. Anyway, they are very different cameras even if at first they look similar.

+1

Kudos to BM and what they are achieving. I may pick up one of their cameras for the cheap raw some day.

But in the mean time, i am earning a living with dependable Sony reliability and service.

My FS7 had a sensor error manifesting into destroying my footage. A week later i had a new camera in my hands, and i live in rural Norway, far off the grid!

With NAB 2016 coming up soon, BMD will announce the Ursa Mini II. Then it will be time to cancel your pre-order on the current non-shipping Ursa Mini. Another year will go by and you would not have shot anything in 2 years. Perfect for BM fanboys.

I was reading this article on Nofilmschool where they interviewed the BM CEO. He said that BMs goal is to have new camera turn over every 6 MONTHS! That is truly insane, neck breaking pace and super lame.

Thing is though, the Ursa Mini 4.6k had Red running so scared and took so many sales off them, I imagine the Ursa 4.61k Mini 2: Electric Boogaloo will force them to close down completely and go back to selling sunglasses.

Yeah, Red use to have the psychotic fanboys, but now they've grown up and chilled out since Red has matured as a company. Most Psychotic Fan Boy Base award now goes to BM users. Any article on NoFilmschool about BMC and the responses are like the 4th Reich. Insult anyone who doesn't feel BM is the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel. And BM fanboys have a special hatred towards Sony.

Thing is if I'd only tried value unsliced bread I'd think it was much better than that silly overpriced sliced bread too. I mean, it's half the price but nearly 90% the same.

Friday night fishing trip.. ;)

Wow, so much truth in the last 10 posts, haha :D Good thing is that BMD (maybe not directly and not individually) pushed Red, Sony and other brands to drop prices and give more features in their cameras.

All those guys shouting on the internet that BM cameras are best in the world probably never used their camera. One of my friends that is using Production 4K camera when I turned up with FS7 on a gig that we were doing together asked me: "Can I hold a real camera for a second?". Half joking half serious but it told me a lot about BM cameras when it's coming from actual users ;)

I am not a fan of the way BM works (or doesn't for that matter). But I have a strong sense that 4.6K is going to be a darned good camera. I have seen some footage coming from it and it appears to have excellent highlight roll-off. I think they are maturing as a company and given the sort of half baked nature of some of Sony's offerings, I would say some of you may be surprised.

Let's hope so! I'm far from being a hater (more of a realist one). More great cameras, better for us as customers.

Yeah, but if those sunglasses have Electric Boogaloo, I'm gettin' me a pair!

I started this thread to show that the words firmware 3.0 and Ursa mini 4.6 (both non-existing) will start an epic discussion. So far it works! :-)
