Signed distribution deal...

Congrats! Definately let us know when it comes out on DVD. Just think, if you get every member od DVXUser to buy a copy that would be about 12k in sales...good start, no?

It would be fantastic if DVXUser really supported the film because it would give it a real boost in rentals and then sales and would make the distributor take our film more seriously. Money wise, I don't expect to make any unless this thing gets into the 100's of thousands of dollars or even more. You know how it goes with small films in the big pond. However, yeah man this feels really good. Three years of my life and what a hard road it's been. From my dorm room in university to actually finishing the movie and then all that has happened after. Now it's hoping the damn thing gets rented and bought.

That's good to hear that Limbo is on the verge of finally getting a release. Is it possible for there to be a release in London, because that is where i am based.

cheers

Rokoko,
why dont you tell us the story of "The making of" the movie.
I'd be interested to hear how everything unfolded. I'm sure it would be inspirational for the rest of us.

Congratulations! The website and trailers look great. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Getting it done for 9K is awesome.

Congratulations! It's a scary thing to go through distribution, but after you've done it once you never have to go back over that hurtle again, which is great. I find it a badge of honor to have any kind of distribution on my film at all and so should you or anybody that gets that far. Everybody I've known to get distribution is usually deflated for a while, because there's more work that goes into delivering than there was making the film (OK, not really). It is however tough to be going like crazy with so much passion for so long and then have to put in more tedious work. Also, I think we all dream that getting a distribution deal is going to be the version where we're hunted down my Harvey and Bob and end up all over Variety (we're professional dreamers after all)...but the reality is usually a bit more sedate.

Take the good words from the people on the forum and enjoy. Take the budget to $9200 and buy a bottle of Crystal (even if it doesn't taste that good) shake it up good, spill a bunch on the floor frivolously, take a couple sips and start working on your next feature.

Best,

j.

Thanks man. How are things going? haven't heard from you in a while. New projects on the horizon?
I really am very happy for you dood. I feel like in my own little way I've been with you there from the beginning of the marketing/festival days. You've worked so hard on this thing! Unfortunately without it being a DVX-made movie you probably won't (although I'm not the one to talk to) be able to officially sell it on here aside from putting links in your signature, but you did buy a DVX right? So you're next (and better I'm sure) movie will sell like HOTCAKES at the ol' DVXUser! I can't wait for that! And I really can't wait to see what you did with LIMBO since I saw it! I don't want to take up your thread space on my stuff, so I will just drop you a PM later on...

You should check out the podcast in the link I gave. You in particular will find some of the entries very funny and familiar.

HA! I just watched the Red Carpet walk at Eerie Horror Fest! Nice!

You know that fest has really taken off btw from 2 years ago, killer new venue and this year we've got George Romero and are talking with Rob Zombie's peeps and others as well (I'm an advisor now for the fest).

You need to make another flick! Hell, we both do! (which reminds me i forgot to PM you, ugh!)

What can we expect to see on the dvd? Maybe a directors' commentary?

I'm going to try my best to get a director's commentary on there, but I have been told that because the movie is so cryptic in ways, it may be better not to tell anyone what I was really thinking and leave it to the audience's imagination. I'm leaning towards that concept.

yeah, i dont like commentary's that tell it all because then whatever i took from the movie kinda goes out the window. BUT you can do a commentary geared more towards us fellow filmmakers and the experience with getting it made.
