Just got it for $275 at KEH in immaculate condition...

Love it and recommend it for people who are looking for a hand-held lens that is capable of shallow DOF. A little heavy and I still wish I could get something like this with IS, but this works well and I prefer it to the Panasonic 20mm or the Canon FD 50mm in a hand-held situation.

Heavy? :) You haven't played with the Zeiss cine lenses that fit on the EOS mount, haha, I put the 50mm on my 7D and could not BELIEVE how heavy it was. Actually, I think that the 30mm Sigma is one of my lightest lenses. The Tokina 11-16 is definitely heavier, as is my 85mm F1.4 Bower I believe.

However, in terms of greatness, I think a lot of people do not know how awesome this lens is. I've let A LOT of my friends use it (since they could afford to replace it if they broke it) just to see how amazing of a lens it is. I steer clear of Sigma zoom lenses, as the two I have I never use, but their primes, being the 30mm and the 50mm, are REALLY REALLY nice.

It's true, some IS would be nice, but I run my rig on a stabilizer so this minimizes the need for me.

In any case, welcome to the Sigma 30mm club :)

It's weird that no one seems to use this lens on the GH1, and I believe I read some not so great reviews online. I love the focal length and it is super crisp and not that expensive! As for heavy... I guess I have been using my tiny c-mount lenses a lot lately so in comparison! :)

From my understanding, some people have received bad 30mm F1.4 in the past. Some people have had to send them in to Sigma to be fixed. I bought mine used as well and I guess I got lucky as it has been perfect.

Every person who has used my lens loves it. In fact, a friend with a 5D tried it out even though it vignettes really bad on the 5D, it pushed him to get the 50mm F1.4 which is full frame from Sigma. He loves the lens and is amazed at the cost as well.

I've never used a GH1 myself, but I'd see no reason why it shouldn't look good there as well.

Of course, I do know the kit 550D lens and that thing could float it is so light, so I understand :) Most of the better glass just gets heavier and heavier it seems. Of course, my nikkor 50mm F1.8 is super light!!!

I guess you'll be able to use it as your secret lens weapon since no one else is using it :)
