Does anyone else own this lens and Panasonic-made adapter for it?

I have it, and it works wonderfully under low-lighting, but I'm curious if anyone else experiences the loud aperature noise when it changes during movie making during differing lighting conditions?

When the light changes, especially when outside, the lens makes a loud noise when the aperature adjusts, and also in the video it shows an abrupt lighting change, accompanied on the soundtrack with the noise of the aperature changing.

Just wondering if other owners of this set-up are experiencing the same noise.

Thanks for all replies.

In Creative Motion Picture Mode....

In Creative Motion Picture Mode....

Or, "P" or "A" or "S".

In pure manual movie mode, nothing will click or adjust, unless, of course, you do it manually, then there is noise and harsh changes in the video reference an aperature adjustment.

The kit lens changes aperature silently in auto mode, however, the Sigma is quite noisy when it changes aperature in changing lighting conditions in movie making mode.

Just wondering if anyone else is getting the same noise?

Thanks.

Panasonic hyped out the 14-140's silent AF and aperture changes for a reason. So I doubt the noise is unusual.

I do not have the lens, but I tried it quickly out on a camera shop. Made few stills, shot a short video and noticed the clicks when it’s changing the aperature.
I did not purchase it as the autofocus did not work. The guy in the shop said that it might require lens firmware update, but was not 100% sure if this was available. Just did not want to pay the list price for something that just might or might not full work.

Elko99, is the autofocus working with your lens?

I’m expecting a delivery of sigma 50mm 1.4 any day now, managed to get a good deal for a used one. Will find out soon if it has the same trouble.

No Auto Focus....

No Auto Focus....

The auto-focus doesn't operate with Sigma 30mm 1.4f lens.

This is not an issue with me, I knew that going in.

However, the beautiful depth of field blur wide open, and the ability to take gorgeous video indoors with available light more than compensates for the lack of auto-focus.

Still photos are also fantastic with the lens. My initial question about the interior aperature noise when changing f-stops was just to make sure that it was normal, compared to the silent operation of aperature changes that are made automatically with the kit 14-140mm lens.

As has been posted, Panasonic made a big deal in their press release literature about the silent operation of the kit lens.

I believe that most of the adapter based lenses that you can use will be noisy, and will require manual focus.

This is quite alright with me, considering the multitude of exposure options you get by being able to change glass with this camera.

Thanks for all replies.

if you lock the exposure or in cmm, set the shutter and ap, you shouldnt get any clicking? what is the issue, its clicking because you are not locking the exposure down? as a thought, you could buy a variable nd filter, like me and others have, even in low light with such a high sensitivity lens you may still get adequate light with it fitted and be able to adjust exposure manually once its fitted, just a thought. For normal light though you are going to need to nd filter anyway if you want shallow dof.
