Thanks,

2.8-4 is unusable for video. you want a 2.8 on the full range. If you try to got from 28 to 70 in the same shot , exposure will change drastically.

better buy 2 fixed lens like a 30 and a 80 or a 16-50 at 2.8 or even use the stock lens that come with the camera.

it's not that you'll want to zoom while recording, but if you light your set for f/2.8 and then find that you want to get a closeup and you need to go f/4, you'll have to set your lights again; in practice, this means that, unless you're pretty sure you'll just use the wider end, that lens is not any better than a 28-70 f/4, and therefore not "large aperture"

plus, if you want to use it on a crop body, 17-50 is much more useful than 28-70 (which was a typical full-frame option of old times)

That's not a particularly useful range, neither focal length nor f-stop wise. At least the kit lens is wider and has IS. An idea of what you're looking for or hoping to accomplish

I just purcahsed the fotodiox adapter for the Nikon E series 50mm 1.8 and look forward to trying it out. Hopefully, it perform almost on par with the

The Rokinon 85/1.4 is a great optic, but it's use in video is limited, a 50/1.4 would be more useful. The Rokinon 35/1.4 or Sigma 30/1.4 would be an even better choice for a aps-c body.
