General sigma 18-35 or sigma 17-50 for video for canon 60d

Sigma 18-35 : better focus rig and focus throw. Better in low light. smooth zoom, no IS:(

Sigma : 17-50 : lighter smaller, more range, IS!!

Does the fact that 18-35 has no IS is a sufficient reason to get the 17-50 ?


What do you guys think of these 2 ? It looks like they are good choice for general zoom for canon 60d.

IS is nice to have, but not needed at such wide angles.

I'd prefer the 18-35 coupled with a 24-70 for starting up.

If you only have one lens in your bag though, then the more range of the 17-50 will probably be more useful.
