Sigma 18-35 + FS100 + Speedbooster

Hi. Anybody have this setup? What are your experiences with this one? Please include sample footage if you have them. I'm choosing between the Sigma or a set of Rokinons (24,35,85).

Thank You.

I've used the sigma 18-35 on my fs700 with speedbooster. It's not too bad as a 17-25mm f1.3 (24mm-35mm on the lens). It hard vignettes with the lens set to 18-24mm, and soft vignettes a bit for the rest, but I've successfully used it on a few jobs just being careful not to use it zoomed out too far.

Well, that's disappointing. I was planning to use it for the whole 18-35 range. Most of the stuff I shoot falls in between the sigma's range. Do you have samples of this hard vignette that you are talking about nyvz?

Why would you want to use it with a speed booster? It is an aps-c lens and the FS100 uses an aps-c sensor.

Hey Logan, because that's the adapter that is available to me at the moment. I'd also like to make the most out of the range. I just wanted to see how it looks and know some user experience of the lens with a speed booster on before I make the jump.

Well it's an apsc lens and a pretty unique lens so we're lucky it's even useable at all. I wonder if it'll be better with the speedbooster ultra. I tried the lens on my a7s as well and expected it to be unusable since the a7s has a larger sensor area than the effective areab of s35+sb, but it was about the same so it's possible some of thr vignetting is from the speedbooster and the new one supposedly reduces vignetting,

The lens is designed to cover an APS-C s35 area, when you speedboost this, the image circle shrinks and the lens ends up covering an area about the size of m43s. Thus the combination is really suitable for a m43s sensor and not a s35 one, with the later you will get a huge viggette from 18- and then a pretty-bad-but-better from 24-35mm. The lens is already a fullframe 24-70mm f2.8 speedboosted to s35, so it's perfect for that size inage and gives that sweet fullframe equivalent. Just get a cheap adapter and use it for what it's designed for.

Well yes it's designed for APSC but it doesn't vignette nearly as much as most APSC lenses which are often unuseable speedbooster on S35. I recommend you test for yourself and see if it has a use for you. If you want a 17-25 f1.3 lens and don't mind a little vignetting there's no other lens like it.

What do you mean it's a 24-70 speedboosted? It's possible it has some similar optics in it but that doesn't add up besides the fstop, and with the image circle it'd practically have to have started with a medium format image circle...
