C100: sigma 18-35 f1.8 right firmware

Hi I am going to buy sigma 18-35 , as far as I know lens auto focus works completely only when there is a latest version of firmware . In other situation works just in f1.8 . Is it true ?
 
So it is like a lottery I can get old one and I will have to get sigma usb dock (50eur). Any way sigma usb dock let you calibrate af . faster or slower . That seems nice feature . Do you know which version of firmware let you auto focus works on all f-stops ? Is onyone was not happy with working AF and get sigma usb dock to get better results ?

I guess it is depending on where you get the lens. I assume the new, retail versions all have the newer, capable firmware but I don't know for sure. Regarding the AF changes you can make with the dock, from Sigma's site: "Exclusive SIGMA Optimization Pro software makes customization easy. It is possible to select the autofocus speed and adjust the focus limiter and Optical Stabilizer (OS) function"
 
Sounds great , I am wonder is anyone get more after customization , I means is anyone was happier with results . We all know that all lens is calibrate for still , maybe there is the way to optimize for video ?
 
^ I would think so. That lens has C1/2 switches so that opens-up adjustablity to AF speed as well as distances at a variety of FLs.

Lottery? Well, if you look you can find the dock for less than that 50 euro. I see them on sale for $35 here in Los Angeles. Additionally, if you send the lens back to Sigma, they will update the firmware for free. You may not calibrate the AF speed unless the lens in question has "custom function" such as the 120-300 and 150-600 and the 500 lenses.

8/22/2014 was the date of the firmware release for that fix. I would presume anything with a build date after that would be good-to-go on a C100.
