Sick CG!

Awesome work

I think what gives CG away is the choice of camera angles/. Sometimes it'd be best served with 'real wor;d' choices in where the camera is placed and not some magical CGI world.

Also, the sharks swimming as a group looked fake

Here's my latest (These guy's have nothing to worry about)

I just started this evening

That was amazing, Rich.

I think that kids growing up with this caliber (and increasingly better) CGI might find "real world" filmmaking boring in the future. Kind of like hyper moviewatching A.D.D. Tripods, jibs, and dollies will be soooo old school.

That looked amazing.

And i for one love to see those impossible camera angles. That's part of the magic for me. We get to go right inside the sharks bite.

awesome.

(But I get no sound....)

Hey Rich, I directed a little short for a couple of friends of yours, Eytan and Ryan. It was funny cause we'd been trying to find a DP beforehand but never found one and once i was there, through conversation, they mentioned someone who did a video for their roommate who low and behold, was you! I was like, you know that guy?? You idiots, why didn't you get him to come over and DP??? Don't know if you would've but it was a fun shoot (those guys are crazy). Got to handle the HVX and it was pretty sweet.

i agree...the only thing that made me think the opening shot was fake was the camera move...impossible...

but there are certain scenes...like in spiderman...wher ei hate how crazy the camera gets. the whole movie so well composed and cool..then once the characters go cg its like videogame time. i dont like the scene when doc oc and spidy go at it on the side of a building with that tumbling camera move, just bothers me. same with lord of the rings, all those big sweeping moves, yawn!

anyway...this is one bad ass demo reel.

BTW...plane looks good John...keep us updated...

You bastard whore from the planet orion

I agree; keep the CGI cameras as if they were really in OUR world.

I'll def keep you up on Corsair

Ive also just moved into the Ani faze of the SPACE BIKE !

Good lookin corsair Hudson... one of my favs along with the AT6 and P51 (of course).

It's only a matter of time and that time is coming quickly....no more actors or crew. The crew will be you, a fridge full of beer and a lot of talent and determination...and more beer. The time is coming.

Amazing stuff.

Hudson, you seem to be taking to this 3D thing pretty quickly. Good stuff!

i don't know all the tech. terms, but i'm assuming one pass is really good?

its just cool that it looks as good as it does straight out of the renderer

its not uncommon for some cg shots in films to be broken down into hundreds of elements that the compositor can then tweek.

you get much more control over the image when you render out all the parts seperate...like shadows, reflection, color, specular...the list goes on and on...and its pretty infinit what you can break out...here is a grab from a guys shake project from compositing cg elements into a live action shot from constantine....

i think he said there was 175 elements in that shot...which ended up looking like this...
