Shutter Speed Test in Slow Motion

Hi,

(This is the first video I post in this forum)

I got the camera two weeks ago, and I've been playing with its settings, etc. I know nothing about shutter speed, so I decided to do some tests and learn in the process. Oh, and while I'm on it, why not do it in slow motion?

Please let know what you guys think.

Rec Format: 720/60p
Scene File: F6 Cine-D
ND Filter: 1/16
Gain: M

After "clip 3 - 1/60", all the clips seem similar. Why?
I don't see anything different from 'test 3 (1/16)' to 'test 9 (1/2000)'
Is there something I should do in post to take advantage of shooting at faster shutter speeds?

Also, how/why do you guys use shutter speed?
Is there a shutter speed I should use all the time?
Should I shoot with shutter speed ON or OFF?

Next: I'll do a test of shutter speed at regular 720/24p.

they may look similar but they are not, if you look at the motion close, as you boost the shutter, your movement keeps getting sharper and sharper

you cannot turn off the shutter, "off" really means that the cam defaults to a shutter speed for that particular frame rate IE: 24P with shutter off really means the camera is shooting 24P with a 1/48 shutter

hope this helps

Oh, so when it's "OFF", it's actually at a default of 1/48. Good to know.
I'm gonna check frame by frame to see the sharpness in the shots.
THaNKS!

For the 24p recording modes, yes. I think on the other modes it defaults to 1/60.

Hop into your display mode settings and there's a way to turn "everything" on. I highly recommend this, it'll show all data (including the actual speed when shutter is 'off') in the black areas under and above your image.

1/48 or 1/60 for 24P I was not sure exactly where the camera defaults to but as you learn to shoot more and more you will find youself leaving everything on the camera as manual so that you always select the shutter speed that you want, me personally I never set it off, I want and need to know the shutter speed that I am going to use for that look or framerate and sometimes you can use your shutter to obtain proper exposure so that you can keep your f stop low which in turns makes the camera take better pictures
