Maybe this has been asked already, but I'm wondering, does this cage "lock" the GH2 in? Whenever I use my follow focus on stiffer lenses on my current setup, the GH2 wiggles a little on the tripod plate (because of it only has the single tripod screw mount, I assume). Basically, I can't use my longer lenses with my FF because I'd have to tighten the tripod plate far tighter than I'd feel comfortable with to get a good, non-slipping grip.

Does your cage protect against this?

Yes, that's the purpose of the additional hot shoe mount. It really helps stabilize the camera. I have pretty stiff focus rings on some of my lenses and they all work fine with follow focus using the cage.

Thanks much! Can you post a picture of how the cage attaches to the rods? The last image you posted makes it hard to see how it connects...

I'll probably be purchasing this within a week or two, thanks!

It attaches with a bolt (standard hex for tightest fit or thumb wheel type for quick change). See this post for detailed pics: #21

It would be nice to see at least one cold shoe attachment on the top of the cage for mounting a mic or maybe an LED light. I'd also really like to see it come with a top handle for low-angle hand held shots or even just hand-held work in general. Just some thoughts. If it had those features I think I would buy it.

Well the idea is that we've provided enough mounting options so you can put your own cold shoe or handle on. Most cold shoes have 1/4-20 threaded mount, included with each cage are several 1/4-20 screws to mount accessories like you mentioned. $99 gets you the cage, the accessories are up to you. :)

stoked about this. definitely want to pick one up! gonna be doing some live streaming with the GH2 and I need a place to put my Teradek Cube among other things. Might have to get 2 since we are using a multi cam set. solid work and awesome name Shrigg. sick!

Okay, well I still I love the look of this, so I think I'm going to buy it. I guess I can just diy myself a handle and then ad a cold shoe for my mic. I think it would be worth into looking into a 'deluxe bundle' or something like that which would include a handle, and a couple of cold shoes... just my two cents worth.

Look around on the indisystem.com site, there may be some of those items available. Heck, I'd call Tim Ovel and ask what he has: 319-504-3985

How does the camera attach to the shrigg - is it a allen wrench screw? thumb? can I attach a quick release plate at the bottom of the shrigg or do I have to use the rails system?

It attaches to the camera with an allen screw. Quick release plate goes right on, whether you use just the cage or have the riser/rods with it.

Wow this looks awesome. And that price is incredible too. Is the DVXUser special price still available?
I might have to place an order tomorrow

The GH2 cage weighs right around 1 lb., the larger one just a few ounces more.

I don't own a GH1 any more to try fit but I think it will work in either cage. Call Tim at indifocus and see if he's tested the GH1. Make sure you specify that you want the large cage for use with a GH1, he will include a longer hot shoe union bolt. Should work fine.

You should have a Video made instead of pictures, it seems only rite. A nice detailed video showing your product would work wonders......

hey shrigg,

very interested in this cage, but I'm expecting to pull the camera out of the cage fairly regularly - would there be room to fit a GH2 on a quick release plate inside the cage - from the photos it looks like there'd be room at the top, the hotshoe coupling would just not have to go down as far, but I'm concerned about the left hand corner of the camera hitting the angled corner block.

Alternatively, would it work to have a quick release on the cage itself and be able to separate it from the rod assembly / tripod? I'm covering a conference, so I'll be moving between tripod mounted shooting of sessions to hand held mode for grabs with conference attendees, so a quick release system for shifting between tripod and shoulder mounts / or just bare handheld is essential.
