Crappy iPhone picture but I didn't feel like getting out the DSLR. So forgive the image quality.

That's mostly kitted out.

Here is my GH2 wireless rig One 12volt battery powers - monitor, hdmi splitter, hdmi transmitter, and camera. The 22inch monitor can also be powered by battery. The HDMI transmitter/receiver were bought off ebay for $100 and power from the battery rather than the power adapters they came with.

We are working on a second more compact wireless rig design for steadycam rather than on the shoulder.

What kind of rods are those black carbon fiber rods? Are any rods out there known to be significantly lighter than zacuto rods?

Thanks!
Kyle

@Jay Mc

What are your thoughts about the Sachtler ACE ? It's seems to be a nice head for the $$$. Do you feel like it could handle a more beefier (but still lightweight) rig?

Sorry to be asking so many rig questions: what do you guys think of the following shoulder pads?

- Porta Brace
- Jag35
- Berkey

Thanks so much!

Zacuto Z-Riser

Zacuto Z-Riser

I've just put my rig together after getting all of the components attached the the whole thing wobbles at the Z-Riser. Anyone else having a problem with it? If so what's the best workaround off the Zacuto universal base plate if you need the drop down for mounting a matte box on the rails?

Looks solid. Is that a Manfrotto QR plate that the cam is sitting on? I bought the Z-riser from Zacuto and the whole rig wobbles.

Can I ask you guys a question?

Everytime I see some pictures of these monstrous rigs with all sorts of accessories on them, handles, and I'm always perplexed about the field monitors hanging to the side. How long can you operate with a field monitor hanging to the side of the camera? Is't the unbalanced weight to the side a little awkward? I'm trying to operate with a z-finder rig (a lot smaller) and even so, I have to put the finder very close to the camera (covering several function buttons) in order to get a rig that doesn't weight sideways. Do you always work as a 35mm camera, using both andles and with an assistant pulling focus? Does anybody works solo, correcting focus with the left hand and holding the camera with the right, like a 16mm shoulder camera or ENG? Can you work a full day with your rig on your shoulders?

Any of you using the Manfrotto 577 as a riser on the Zacuto plates having problems with clearance for the tightening knob on the side of the 577?

The Zacuto Universal Baseplate with this QR works great.
The knob hangs off the side and you aren't banging your
fingers into the baseplate trying to adjust it.

You have 180 degrees of motion (actually over 180 I think? )
to tighten and loosen the QR unit. Which works
out to be more than enough.

Got my Berkey Systems Baseplate + Top Plate, which meant I could finally attach my rails & follow focus, I also got a new monopod, slider and lenses.

Can't wait for the new year, so I can use these.

My monitor/shoulder rig I operate focus with the right hand, at that point its right heavy not left heavy, but with a longer rig and the Vlock at the back moves the CofG to the left of the camera.. over the left handle.. very good balance
