Shouldn't you watch it on a SONY? You idiot!

Is anyone else as annoyed with Sony's new idea behind promoting their HDTV displays?

"If it's shot on a SONY camera, shouldn't you watch it on a SONY TV?"

Sure the first commercial was cute and funny with the guy saying he didn't like sports and Peyton holding the chicken back. But this new line is absurd and insulting.

We are actually currently working on a forum feature that will only allow you to access DVXuser from Panasonic Tough-Book laptops.

Yeah but you have to come up with a silly reason for the user to use a Panasonic laptop.

Worse are their commercials for their 120Hz TVs where they imply you get more motion in your sports because of it. Nevermind, of course, that the cameras only shoot 60Hz.

Those TVs make 24 fps movies look like Handicam video, so no, thanks.

I get the original point here... and yeah, it's moronic... but they're aiming at joe six-pack... and it's an easy premise to grasp... even though it's really dumb.

Instead why not go with solid logic that shows the exact same brands consistently in the top tier rated TVs? Go look at any consumer reports site... or even a site where customer's put up reviews (such as Newegg or Circuit City)... and you'll see that Panasonic has much higher universal praise then Sony... and there's also Samsung... that's consistently rated above Sony.

At this time Sony has finally reached a state of being perceived as poor value for the money. This happened over time, but Sony has had plenty of chances to stop this perception... but they haven't... and so perception has become reality. Simply put, it's pretty easy to buy a TV with a better picture, for less money, then going Sony... so the answer to their original question is; "only if you want to spend more then you have to for a lower quality television."
