On a budget - big surprise. Can anyone recommend where to purchase rigs for the 7D that are solid and will not break the bank. Unfortunately, I cannot lay out 2500 in these economic times. I am sure there are good companies making decent products.

Any help guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I bought the dslr baseplate and d-focus from jag.35 for my 60D - really good build and excellent kit. I bought a cheap as chips spiderbrace shoulder mount which works great for the money.

If you ask me, I thing for start best set is as follows:

http://www.indisystem.com/products/ultra_compact as main rig. I have one and love it more and more each day.
http://www.indisystem.com/products/indisquare as small handheld rig.
You can also try http://www.indisystem.com/products/indifocus_zoom (it is friction based FF).
As for "normal" follow focus. Consensus is that D|Focus v3 is best in extra low end, but I suggest to try Shoot35 gears or Indie Snap gears, they are more usable.
For matte box look here : http://shop.ebay.com/pell678/m.html

You can ask pel678 for "support+Cokin matte box+follow focus" set. He had one for $375 only.
And his FF is better compared to D|Focus (even better than Indian ones).

look for gini.1989 on ebay. amazing rigs. They are buy it now or best offer. Offer something isanely low and they still take it. for example I bid $350 on an $870 priced item and won it.

Just tried gini on ebay and made some offers but all were declined. His rigs would be worth the 300-400 range but there are much better options for the prices he is asking.

If you ask me, they make perfect rig parts, but awful complete rigs.
In reality they need to offer all parts that they have and allow people to assembly proper rig.
Instead they keep posting some strange creations. Some are ok, but most are insane.

ya, you kind of have to get lucky. He has a few other accounts as well, search for DSLR rig. He accepted my $350 offer and my friend offered $500 for his $1500 rig and it got accepted. Not sure why... keep trying.

hey Vitality...does pel678 sell support so u can attach the mattebox to a rod system? I want a Mattbox when i get a shouldr mount but dont want to pay those crazy prices for a lightshade

Y.O.U. is the correct spelling of that word (without the periods, of course!). Thanks for honoring your fellow forum members with real words - we appreciate it!
