Should I upgrade the firmware?

I've had my hmc since it was first released.. and I have had no problems with it whatsoever so I have not bothered to upgrade the firmware. Should I do so? And if so... how do I go about doing it?

:bath:

Same here Thomas. I havent updated it and have had no issues. Doubt I will unless they add new features to it like they did with the LX3 still camera.

Same here. I might do it sometime when there's no projects looming. My only worry is that if something else fails, Panasonic might blame you for not upgrading your firmware. Dunno.

If you're happy with how it works, no reason to upgrade. But if you get a Class 10 SDHC card, it won't work with your HMC150 unless you've upgraded your firmware.

The question is - does it have any point using a Class 10 SD in my camera?
I use a class 6, and some say Class 4 will suffice.. I really do not know.
I know it is all about thre read/write speed. And comparing the HMC specs for the highest quality AVCHD, one would thing that Class 6 is needed.
Then I read that Class 4 is good enoug.

And now Class 10.. any ideas?

Class 4 is all you need for an AVCCAM camera. It says so in the manual.

But if you have a Class 10 card, it *will not work* in the HMC150 in the original firmware. So it's not a case of whether you need class 10 or not, it's that if you buy a class 10 card, or someone gives you a class 10 card, it simply won't work in your HMC150 at all, until you update the firmware.

The old saying "if it ain't broke, leave it alone" more often than not, when you start muckin with things, Murphy's law says you'll soon come undone.
Chances of mucking up your HMC doing an upgrade are very minimal though!
Mines still a virgin too!

Just a quick response to this post in case anybody wants to know. I have successfully updated the firmware and have used a Class 10 card with no problems.
