C100: Should I transcode C100 footage to ProRes HQ?

I've been working with the AVCHD footage natively and was wondering if it would be worth it to transcode the footage to prores 422 hq. If this is recommended, are there any suggestions when using Adobe CC? I used to do this with my DSLR H.264 but have no idea if I would gain anything doing this with the AVCHD codec.

There's no need to transcode if you're using Adobe Premiere(which you do), because it chews AVCHD natively. If you have a very slow machine and having troubles with editing, transcoding will help to take some stress out of you processor.

The only time I transcode is when i see a lot of interlacing artifacts (even in progressive footage). I also find clips with red objects need to be transcoded to prores. No need to otherwise.

Hq is unnecessary and takes up way too much disk space.

In my tests, the noise within the C100 that's surpressed on the AVCHD recordings can swamp and overwhelm the ProRes 422 compressor, only at 422HQ does it faithfully record the noise in the dangerous IRE25-IRE35 settings.

Sunny outside scenes without too much detail may be fine. Most of my work (EU/UK based) is indoors or in that curious UK weather pattern that involves living in a tupperware sandwich box (predominantly overcast, dull) and therefore I've now stuck to ProRes HQ.

Here's a test recording:

I heartily recommend downloading the original H.264 file I uploaded (135 Mb).

Did you download the uploaded version or watch the Vimeo encode? Hence 'I heartily recommend downloading the original...'

And you don't see it?!
