Should all cameras be the same?

I am going to be filming three moving actors, mostly outdoors in increasingly dim light as the story unfolds, with also a couple of car scenes, in 24 p. How much does it complicate things in editing if one cameraman has a dvx and another an xl2? I am not so much worried about small variations in color as I am major technical glitches. I want to keep this thing cheap.

Also, I have an old Sony Handicam dcr-hc85 which can shoot 30p and am thinking of using it for quick, completely extraneous shots from under a car or floating on water (its a crazy story) instead or risking an expensive camera. Can I throw in this tape also?

I think small variations in color are going to be the only issues between the DVX
and XL2. The other cam may be problematic if it is single chip- if 3 chip, probably OK.

defintely shoot some test footage with all three simultaneously under the varyious light conditions - you may find they match at certain lights but not others, and as above, the handycam may not match at all

hey mate, I've done a 3 camera shoot with totally different cameras.

PD170, XL2 and a DVX.... we ended up having problems matching everything in post..
I would strongly suggest using 1 type of camera if you plan to go multi-cam =D
