Shotgun Mic Questions???

So I am in need of a shotgun microphone to use with my H4n. Does anyone have any suggestions of a very low cost shotgun microphone that is decent to good?

Thanks! I will read up on those. They are around the price range I was looking at. Are most people using a long or short shotgun mic with their dslrs? I am not certain what the differences are. I am assuming the long will have better reach???
 
I also recommend the Audio Technica 875R short shotgun. With the Zoom H4N, I use two of them in stereo to get a fuller sound field from the subject they're both pointed at. The handling noise of this mic is minimal and it's short enough to stay put in its shock mount when you pan. At the risk of sounding stupid.... Do these connect right into the camera or do you need an adapter? If so, which one?
 
Sigh. Your Zoom has two XLR microphone inputs with phantom power available - so plug in your microphone and off you go.

umm no need to sigh- I think that Uncle Benji1977 missed the H4N insertion. Correct me if I'm wrong Unc. but were you referring to just the mics themselves plugging into the camera?? B/C the OP is referring to plugging shotgun mic into H4N (portable audio device)- that allows for really good sound recording as opposed to the internal mic on GH1 with the AGC. Which you would then sync in post

I'll second the thumbs up on the AT875R. Just got it and think it's a super bang for the buck. I also saw posting on Vimeo, where apparently the mic is flexible enough on the phantom power requirements that you can actually power it from the GH1 mic input. I've ordered a XLR to mini-plug cable to test this as an alternative to a Rode VideoMic for run & gun shooting. Here's the Vimeo link: http://vimeo.com/groups/gh1/view_file:5105
