Shotgun Mic and the t2i

My friend recently bought a Canon t2i, a camera I know little technical about.

I own a senhessier ME66 shotgun boom mic what is the cheapest and best way for him to use my mic and set up the sound.

We tried running it through an audio mixer but either the sound wasnt recording or it came out VERY distorted.
