Short Story about a Blender

Hi People,

This is my first actual video made with my GH1. I am a bit of a newbie so take it easy on me! I didn't have any help, so I was the actor, the camera man, the musician, the editor, etc (basically it was a one man show). All scenes were shot in 720/60p with the Lumix 20mm f1.7 pancake lens (which made it rather challenging to get myself in focus while being the actor!).

Anyways - nothing amazing, but wanted to share since I have been hanging around this forum for awhile. I made it for an online contest and did the entire production in a single day. By the way, it is supposed to be slightly "cheesy". :)

Brought a smile to my face.

And if you can't make it as a film maker, break dancing is always an option.

Joking aside, enjoyed that.

Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments. :)

I will definitely keep going and I am excited to do some projects that I can really be proud of.

I liked it. Looked nice and sharp and lit well. Might have to pick this lens up!
I really like the shot of you looking out the window at :20. Looks really nice.

PS: Vitamix blender thingies are awesome.

why did the saturation jump up after the fade from black at 1:26?

I actually did that on purpose. The first half is supposed to be bleak and "gray" so I desaturated it and tweaked the colors a little (but didn't want to do it too much). Then as my character started feeling better I shifted the colors to be normal and slightly saturated (but just barely).

Nice work, Shawn, I quite enjoyed that. I've been trying to guess where you are in Oregon based on the clues in your video. Are you in Eugene? (I thought I recognized the Spencer's Butte trail?)

Hey Shawn,

The only thing I could add is the old saw, "show, don't tell."

Let your footage and composition speak for itself.

For instance, you took up break-dancing. Let the footage speak to your skills. Kinda makes it funnier. It's unecessary to say you weren't very good.

And I think I want to buy that blender. :)

sincerely,

ian
