Its been a long time since I've posted anything on DVX user but I owe at least half of my camera knowledge to pouring over these forums.

Thought I'd put up a short video I made for a Directing class for the Art Institute of Portland.

QT HQ-

I shot it with My 7D and two lenses a 100-400mm- f 4.5-5.6 Canon as well as a Canon L series 24-70mm f 2.8.

As you will see there is heavy CC, I used the Marvel Cine profile to shoot flat and get as much range as possible for color.

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Thanks.

If someone is experienced with what I believe is called Anti-ailising there is something strange in the lighting on the third shot where the one man walks up on the right of frame. The ambient light jumps stops in this shot, i'm not sure if this is pro-res artifacts or something else entirely.

Any ideas?

Well done.

Did you shoot this on auto IRIS? That's what it looks like to me, the Iris is stepping through the f-stops. Its very unlikely that ProRes is the problem.

Very nice look and feel.

Also did you shoot this 720P or 1080P 24?

On the shot where he's face down on the tracks there's quite a bit of Moire, looks like its 720P. Also, just out of curiosity, all but two shots were on a tripod, why handheld on the two shots?

Very nice use of close-ups and well edited.

All shot at 1080 24fps The Moire was a combo of the long lens and damp ground, It does look a little like 30fps.

As for the handheld shots, They were an editorial decision by the editor/director. The shoot got a little rushed due to the rain which was unexpected.

I shot full manual and didn't notice the iris problem till post color-correction. I'm thinking it has something to do with the compression/settings my editor used. I've heard of people complaining about anti-aliaising and haven't done too much research into the problems with the 7d and it.

Thanks for your comments!
