hi , i'm belgian, so sorry for my english, i have some problems of noise with my a1, before someone ask me, the agc is set on off, the gain is set on -3db, i tried so many settings with presets (put the sharpness down , knee on low,....) but i always have some noise on my footage, you can see an example in this link ++++++> http://www.vimeo.com/3295246 (look at it in full screen)

in this video i used a 35 mm adaptater, but even without it , there is noise on my footage... i hope you will be able to help me, i don't know if it could be a problem with my camera? so i ask you some advice , thanks

julien.

Julien,
I think this looks very good. It looks "gritty" but if you were to throw more light on it, it would clean right up I think. The problem is your perception eh? I think it looks great. Love the feel. I have no idea what he's talking about but I love the dude drinking the juice box.

Salut Julien - I think your footage looks pretty awesome to me. Very nice touch you got there and two talented young actors. Is this supposed to be part of a feature film or a short? Only thing that I've spotted is that your guy on the chair still moves his hands after he got "shot"...

As for your "issue", I'd say it's got something to do with lighting, too. Could it be that you had only little artificial light when you shot that scene?

And is there some dirt on the lens (bottom right hand corner)? There seem to be some black dots scattered across that area.

Also, the image is slightly blurry - I think your depth of field is absolutely convincing, but the subject in focus lacks... focus. Maybe it's because of the file compression.

Néanmois, bien exécuté! Ca me rappelle de "C'est arrivé près de chez vous". Peut-être quelque chose à faire avec l'humour belge...?;)

thanks for the answers, i know for the hands , it's a mistake the actor made during the shooting but i saw it only during the post-prod...i would like to say that the actors are only beginners, this was their first short film.

for the noisy footage, it's wierd because , i always thought that when i set the gain to -3db it was equal to NO NOISE EVER... am i wrong?

Swissfox it's cool you try to speak french, in fact "c'est arrivé près de chez vous" is one of my favourite movie, and bill perhaps i'll try to put some subtitles lol

is that normal that i have some much noise when i shoot indoors even with gain set on -3db and agc off???

Putting it on -3db gain doesn't change the fact that the camera still needs proper lighting to pick up a crisp image. Light the scene better, and the grain should go away.
