We were really impressed with the capabilities of this camera and we decided to shoot 3 short films only using the 7d, this is one of them. We used 2 Nikon lenses 35mm f2 and 17-70mm f2,8 enjoy.
***SPOILER/Geekout***
(This is just an excersise to flex my brain, not a hit on your short, cus I like it.)
I like your hook, but you forgot that the sun (taking the earth with it) is also moving about 225 km per second, with 31,55,926 seconds in a year that is a displacement of 7,100,308,350 KM or around 0.08 light years / year
Interestingly, Pluto's distance from the sun is between 4,284,726,912 and 7,228,829,857 km depending on where it is in it's orbit.
So after 5 years, the traveler would be at a position 5 times the length of the solar system and the sun would be a tiny dot.
If he only went 1 year, he could of landed on Pluto if everything lined up right.
We actually though about that too, but we knew to be able to convey that on a short film with our budget would be even more challenging. We actually had people not grasp the concept that the earth and the solar system we are in is constantly moving and it is not technically in the same spot but I am glad to see someone who gets it. We decided to create the same concept but not as accurate, we really wanted to have the earth shot too. Plus he would have exploded instantly when he appeared in space if you think about it. Thank so much for the feed back.
