Hello,

Linked below is the trailer for,"Surveyor," a short film shot primarily on the GH2. I had the pleasure of working on it. Enjoy!

 
This looks AWESOME! Cinematography looks great, IQ looks great, and the story looks really interesting. When can we see the whole thing?

My only critique on the trailer is that I think the beginning is unneeded and out of place. At first I thought it was a really good B-movie western parody. No need to ride off of someone else's work with yours since it holds its own. Also, the moods seam different. Yours looks more like the modern "there will be blood" style, which I am a big fan of.

Yes, the reaction has been mixed with regard to the "John Wayne-stuff" at the beginning of the trailer. I think the idea was to transition from what the Western is to what it can become. But no, the film isn't a parody at all. Thanks for the kind words. I'll pass it along to the filmmaker, who is still in post-production on "Surveyor."
 
No, it's public domain footage. I don't believe it's unnecessary; it shows that this film will not try to be stuck in that John Wayne disney world that's so common in westerns. Whether the film succeeds on that front or not, I don't know.
 
I think you can leave the Wayne stuff in but I'd chop it in half, too long IMO. Also, the footage might be public domain but I thought Wayne's likeness was copyrighted? I'm not sure the legalese behind a copyrighted likeness inside a public domain film.

But the actual film looks great, some beautiful footage!
 
Personally the old western stuff from John Wayne looks great, IMO your footage does not really look gritty enough to really bring me into the world of "realism". Sorry but I just don't really like the look of the Gh2 on this project..

Yeah, but the Wayne shots weren't from "True Grit"(1969) either... so no need for grit.

Looks to be "McLintock!"(1963), back when you could spank your wife...

And according to the Wiki on the film, it is in Public Domain status.
 
This Looks Awesome! just the few shots that you did yourself are amazing!! that trailer can be just those final shots, and it would be AMAZING

*DROP THE JOHN WAYNE SHICK!! seems like some mel brooks comedy*!!!

Definitely lose the public domain stuff at the beginning, or cut it down considerably. I know what they were trying to do with the edit, but it kinda sells your footage short and it doesn't match the tone (both emotionally and visually) of the gh2 stuff. I almost didn't watch the whole thing, because it takes close to a minute to get to the actual film. But imho, the gh2 footage looks great -- I wanted to see more of it. I know this may be more a "teaser" trailer, but I would love to see more of the story in the teaser.
