While the images look clean, they lack lighting and based on your lense choices I cant tell whose doing what.

It's a mockumentary/film so I was going with the natural light,
I dont quite follow you with "whose doing what"? I used a 50mm fixed nikon with a smaller iris, I didnt want a too shallow dof

Russ

sweet Wayne, yeah Chelmsley wood in brum,
I'll get a clip up soon really pleased how it came out in canon 25fp mode and the adaptor considering it was really hard getting focus on a 7" SD monitor in direct sunlight but because of the mockumentary style its not overly important

Don't get me wrong I think the images look good. Just wondering why you choose a 50mm lense.

ok here's a quick taste of the footage please bear in mind this is "rough" its not a trailer or teaser, no audio edting, little cc and it was damn near impossible focusing with the montor I had its jus really to get a feel of the cannon 25fp mode and the SGpro (btw the very first shot was with no sgpro)

Yeah agree with Wayne. SGpro looks good. Per my earlier post though - I dont want this point to be confused so Ill say up front - I didnt have any issue with mixing the opening shot with standard lense and the SG pro stuff.

So. The opening shot was more what Id expect, lots in focus giving the character a really hard look and when she says WTF u lookin at it works very well. Then when I look at the SGpro footage shot from a 50 mm lense it softens her (nothing wrong with the focus - thats not my point). She talking hard and headbutting some guy, but she has a soft look - part and parcel of the 50mm. Id prefer the hard look maintained with a longer DOF from say a 35mm lense with the SGPro - would be that little more effective IMO.

cool yeah good point ,Im pretty new to lenses Ill look into gettin a 35 or maybe a 28? I know some ppl use them, cheers for the advice ;)

The monitor is a 7" lilliput for framing and image flip, battery goes in back pocket
lens is 50mm fixed nikon f2
Matte box is the ebay one from india needed slightly modding
Spiderbrace 2 (so stable)
follow focus is..oh wait, Wayne? be nice to be able to operate with my thumb and finger whilst still holding the spider or maybe mod a 6" whip

the rig is slightly front heavy but not a problem I'm looking into mounting the monitor right next to the SG on the rails

cheers Russ

Looks nice. You say its front heavy, can you slide the tripod clamp (middle one) forward along the rods, or will the rig not go any further back on the spiderbrace?

yeah I can move it all back slightly but get a stiff neck from the monitor angle so Im lookin into mounting it of the rods:thumbup:

really great vid man, love the opening shot!

one thing though, it would have been slightly more effective to of had her headbutt the kid on the (down stage) side of the camera, so that it looks as though there is in impact.

great stuff tho.
