C100: Short film made almost entirely on c100 and sigma 18-35

That's a very very nice film you made there. I rarely stick till the end but the story here was so exciting the film went through very fast. Very well excusted and the acting is great. If there's one thing I though took away from the film quality, it's the corny blood splash you had in two scenes. Great film anyhow.

Haha yeah. I know.

Thanks heaps for the nice comments !

Hey, piece of advice....

if if you would include a link that can be viewed on iPads you would get more comments. I, as well as many, are not viewing all the time on workstations. As I read this, I can not see the video. Just FYI

Thats the thing....there is no image...word...or link. The original post was just text. Nothing else was visible.

Thanks for the new link though. That's works.

EDIT: just check it out on my MBPR and it shows right up. Its an iOS thing. Good to know for the future if you want more posts.

By the way, how do you find the C100 + Sigma 18-35 combo compared to Canon glass? Did you use the dual-pixel AF for many of the shots? Thanks in advance!

Thanks James!

Well the 18-35 f1.8 is a game changer for crop cameras. Compared with canon glass... which would auto focus at all f stops, atm the auto focus only works at f1.8 ( i dont have the sigma usb docking thing for updates) but it could be worse. atleast it auto focus wide open when you need it most. The bokeh on this thing is cleaner than my canon 50 1.4. (will buy a 50 1.2 down the track)

The c100 and sigma combo makes for an awesome one man band , jib and sliding mofo with no need for focus puller..doing everything yourself is a useless skill to have actually... i will have a bigger team next movie and not try to do it all on my own, that just sucked haha. I tried not to use auto focus when possible or you would start to notice the centre centric framing eventually.

anyway, i might re do that whole thing, I really shot myself in the foot on this movie not even rehearsing...so the actor freaked out.... im just ignorant... next time!!!!

Good edit there laid over a really solid concept. Well paced, and the score moved it along nicely. SFX were good, and I thought the VFX over those worked really well with the material.

I did struggle with the acting at times and there were a number of shots that pulled me out especially around the confession component with the wire coming in and out of focus. Cinematography / acting / dialogue (script) could be tighter.

Narrative is tough, however its clear you have an understanding of telling a visual story and Im glad to see local members creating. Well done.

Hi Noel,
thanks heaps for the review.
Can you elaborate especially on the 'Cinematography..' could be tighter?
would love to get feedback on that. Cos at the moment the acting has dictated all my feedback... plus everyone would know, when editing, it forced
my hand, on shot selection and avoidance just to make it appear better.

Visually great, some of the character speach may have been recorded at a higher level to match the clean images. Great concept and I hope you do it again. Pretty damn cool.
