C500: Short film "Goblin Queen"

Nice job.

I wouldn't have guessed it was filmed on a set/office area. Saw some BTS photos. Props for the set design.

What kind of filter(s) did you use?

Was stabilization primarily with Easy Rig?

I watched it John. Good job with your camera work. It seems like it would have some commercial appeal as a feature, have you heard anything from the producer/director about it getting some traction for a feature or TV series pitch? Challenge would be budgets, period epics aren't cheap to produce. Kudos also for the makeup and wardrobe/costumes, good stuff for a short.

Thanks, we used schneider black frost filters for this one. I believe we stuck to the 1/8 and 1/4. The the final scene was the last thing we shot at the end of a 18hr day, so to help the tired ladies we bumped up to the 1/2.

For camera movement I believe we had a 4ft slider, a doorway dolly with track. The exterior was on the ronin+easyrig. Some of the fight was shot hand held from the dolly.

A few other fun tidbits: This was one of my first big set shoots, it was a bit of a catch22. We had the large studio space, but there was no lighting grid and limited space for stands on other side of the wall with the tv. So a majority of the scenes were shot with a bunch of snooted tungsten units and a two large 4x4 kino over head with muslin. The original fight sequence was a lot longer, like minutes longer. A combination of the space, fight choreography and the goblin makeup made for an extremely long day.

I know the director is set up developing the story further. We'll see what happens, i think it's a really cool approach to look at a Narnia like story from the pov of the person who doesn't go on the otherworldly journey.
