Short documentairy --> Advice please!

I like the way you approached the filming of that doco.
It had a nice, peaceful vibe which matched the subject matter beautifully.
I like the speed at which is was paced.

Your cinematography and pacing were great, and the man's monolog stole the spotlight. You did a nice job of getting him to speak his heart about his job which might seem mundane to people who hadn't seen the film. That's a hard thing to capture and you did a good job. You could definitely be a cinematographer, but you also have a strong career as a documentary filmmaker. Your photography on your site is pretty good, too. I wish there were more of it.

Nice work! I think you did a nice job. The editing could use a little work, but the cinematography made up for it.

Excellent!

Excellent!

I thought you did an excellent job! And thats an understatment. I never would have thought i'd enjoy a film about wind mill sails, but this was so well filmed and edited that it just sucks you in. The content was great, and this mans voice fit perfectly with the pace and feeling of the story being told. I think you've done a great job and will most deffinatly make a great cinematogapher. One question, what was you equiptment set up?
Keep up the excellent work!

Nice job, you are starting in the right direction for sure, if you keep improving you could make great things someday. I think he was using a xh a1 btw.

I shot this with a canon XH-A1, and it was lit with 'Chinese lamps!' It's just a light bulb and a paper 'warp' around it.

I want to use this film to apply at film schools, for cinematography

Thank you for your comments everybody! :dankk2: Any advice or critism is welcome too!

Really wonderful portrait of a man working away at a quiet job. Very artistic cuts. I like your eye, Thomas.

You shouldn't have any problem with that - I thought it was really well shot and I see it has won prizes too. If you do want a small criticism I thought the sound panned from one side to the other rather unnaturally. As I said, really good though!
