T2i Short Battery Life - Buy 10?

I got my ebay batteries today. I've been waiting and waiting for the battery gauge to change. Hope the little battery icon works(communicates with the camera) . I'll post how it goes.

Just received my $12 imode ebay battery direct from China. It fit perfectly in the T2i, and the battery indicator showed it was full. I didn't have time to shoot and wear down the battery. But I'll report back after a few charges and let you know how it going.
But the first impression was favorable.

They function exactly the same as the Canon battery. They do communicate with the camera!!! The battery gauge works!!!! No guessing how much time you have.

I will have to do a test for how long they function. Mine ran for 1.5 hours out of the box without charging it. I left the screen on, recorded video, repeatedly fired off snaps, repeatedly flash fired. I left the camera on for the entire 1.5 hours.
I am charging the other ones I purchased now. I am estimating around 2 hours.
I'll report back.

They charge in the OEM charger fine, although the imode ones I had didn't quite click as securely in place. This might be something to keep in mind if you buy a second charger that plugs into the wall, as I think gravity would be working against you as opposed to for you then.

@jerkstore/laherra5: Do you find that while the indicator does respond to the batteries that they go from half-charge to red-flashing to empty faster than the Canon batteries? That's how it seemed to work with mine.

Mine fit perfect in the OEM charger. Yes the indicator works. They will stay at a full strength level for a long time. Then it will go to half...it will then go to flashing red faster then the canon one does. Form half power to flashing red seems to come up faster then the Canon battery. It really doesn't bother me though, I just wanted some form of warning. I need to time the half to flashing red or just know to change the battery.

They are well worth it...I purchased 3 of them. It's nice when you can buy around 10 of them for the same price as one here in the USA.

That all sounds good. I asked because the 3rd party 5d batteries are supposed to explode (or fry, or something bad) when you plug it in with the OEM charger.

The 3rd party T2i ones stop charging automatically as well right? I don't want to be a watch dog over the battery while it's charging.

When the imode T2i batteries finish charging the light goes green on the charger, and I assume the charger therefore stops feeding it power.

This is an urban legend. I also heard that 3rd party batteries ward off vampires, but, will let you take a vampires picture.

I have NEVER had a 3rd party battery do anything as stated above. The only thing they have done is function perfectly and saved me a lot of money.

The batteries will charge in the cannon charger (without exploding) and charge till a full green.

I've got some 10€/15$ each T2i batteries from a German ebay seller but they're made in China as well. Seem to last as long and load as fast as the original battery and fit perfectly to camera and original charger.

I bought two off ebay and they work fantastic. I'm always leary buying from China, so I might order a whole bunch of them and sell them in the US, that way shipping doesn't take 2 weeks for buyers in the US.

That's because the picture is digital and there's no silver in the process. Has nothing to do with the battery. LOL. Most of my HG10 batteries are OEM and I haven't had an issue. I'm buying a T3i this week but the batteries and grip will probably be OEM and probably from China. But Link Delight (I think they're an Indian company) makes batteries and grips for the T2i/3i too.

I've been using 3rd party batteries on my T3i for a few months, only $5- a piece. No problems, I get battery levels etc.

Just got my third party battery yesterday along with a flower petal style lens hood which my T3i didn't come with. Came from China fully charged, got here in a week (ordered on the 8th got here on the 13th, shipped via China Post) and I have another along with a battery grip on the way. I'll be ordering about four more so I'll have eight in total. I mean at $5 a pop I should have enough. How much time are you guys getting on these and are there any long life type batteries.
