Shooting with the HVX

I'm going to be shooting some fair footage this Saturday with an HVX and firestore. I have never used one and I'm going to be picking it up today to start learning about it as much as I can before I got out and shoot. It's a short time to have it before I shoot, but I'm confident in my abilities. Is there anything I should specifically know about this camera before I go out? maybe a list of stuff to absolutely know before shooting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Use the stock scene setting and shoot 720/24pn,

Then try some of the others as well with 24pn and see what look looks good.

Experiment.

Be weary of the firestore... make sure you have it on the right settings, and that the firewire cable doesn't slip out.

Don't use auto focus.

To use the standard white balance settings have the switch on the side of the camera set to preset and press the AWB button on the front of the camera to switch between indoor and outdoor. It took me ages to figure out this...

The EVF button on the back of the camera will help you get better focus.

There's really not a heck of a lot you need to know if you're familiar with other cameras of a similar caliber.

Version 3 does a limited simulation of pN mode -- it'll do 24 or 30, and it does record audio, but it won't work with other frame rates (in pN simulation) and you don't get any audio on playback from the FS-100. The audio's recorded, and it'll be available when you import the clips to a computer, but you won't have any audio during in-the-field playback.

Well, I did a whole day of shooting and my footage turned out great. I had no problems at all. I shot it all 720p/24p and had the fire store set to P2 pn. For my first day shooting with it, I couldn't be happier. I absolutely love this camera now!
